Dental Assisting

Launch your healthcare career with hands-on training in dental assisting.

Penta Career Center’s Dental Assisting Program equips students with the skills needed to work in both general and specialized dentistry. Training includes chairside assisting, laboratory procedures, and radiology, preparing students for real-world dental environments and successful careers as professional dental assistants.

Graduates are ready to step into clinical and office roles with confidence, professionalism, and nationally recognized credentials.

Program Schedule 
120 Hours
Two Nights Per Week | 5:00–9:00 p.m.

• August – December
• January – May

Program Highlights

• Assisting the dentist during a variety of procedures
• Taking and developing dental X-rays
• Developing and following infection control protocols
• Preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment
• Providing oral care instruction to patients
• Performing office management tasks and laboratory procedures related to dental treatment
• Completing clinical and radiology externships (30 hours)

Career Preparation & Certification
Upon successful completion of the Dental Assisting Program, students are eligible to sit for the Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) exam through the American Medical Technologists (AMT).

Students are also eligible to earn the Dental Assistant Radiographer’s Certificate through the Ohio State Dental Board. After passing these exams, graduates are officially qualified to work as professional dental assistants in a variety of clinical settings.

In addition, students receive CPR/AED certification through the American Heart Association, ensuring they are fully prepared for patient care and workplace safety.

Enrollment Requirements
To enroll in the Dental Assisting Program, students must:

• Complete online registration and submit the $100 non-refundable registration fee (applied toward tuition)
• Be 18 years of age or older
• Provide an unexpired Driver’s License or State ID
• Submit proof of high school completion (High School Diploma, official transcript, or HSE/GED transcript)

• Pass an FBI/BCI background check, which will be submitted to the State Medical Board of Ohio to obtain licensure
  •  Licensure eligibility is determined by the State Medical Board of Ohio. Applicants should review the Board’s list of disqualifying criminal offenses, as some convictions may affect the ability to obtain licensure.
• Submit proof of Hepatitis B immunity or completed vaccination series, per Ohio state law, for dental healthcare workers. Hepatitis B Requirements
• Complete all required enrollment documents in the student portal
• Pay tuition in full before class begins

Important Note: This program is not eligible for financial aid. Students must secure all funding before enrollment.

Program Expectations

• Students must wear plain black scrubs daily for class and lab
• Shoes must be solid black with rubber soles
• Adherence to all safety, dress code, and attendance policies is required
• Students must complete all required hours, coursework, clinical, and exam requirements
• Complete Radiology and Clinical Externships (30 hours) as part of program completion
